Safety Management for MR-Guided Interventions

چکیده
Operating room management is a serious and complex task for hospital managers and the common approach is to develop relevant standard operational procedures. From patient' and staff safety perspective operating room management should be wellstudied and hospital should identify and address any potential risks. Implementation of standard validated tools, especially in safety-related area, is the obvious part of diagnostic and treatment processes management. Magnetic resonance-guided cardiac interventions using magnetic resonance-compatible devices: a preclinical study and first-in-man congenital interventions.
BACKGROUND Percutaneous cardiac interventions are currently performed under x-ray guidance. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used to guide intravascular interventions in the past, but mainly in animals. Translation of MR-guided interventions into humans has been limited by the lack of MR-compatible and safe equipment, such as MR guide wires with mechanical characteristics similar to st...
متن کاملPreclinical Evaluation of an MR-EP Suite including an MR-EP Navigator and Dedicated MR-EP Catheters
Introduction: Cardiac arrhythmias, e.g. atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, are increasingly treated by electrophysiological (EP) interventions [1]. Applying MR for guiding these interventions offers advantages like 3D visualization of the cardiac soft tissue in relation to the catheter, visualization of the treatment effect and absence of ionizing radiation [2,3]. The step towards...
متن کاملSpecialty Area : MR - guided Electro - Physiology Procedures
Purpose/Introduction: Real-time visualization of interventional devices using X-ray fluoroscopy during interventions is reliable, straightforward and fast. While it may be tempting to use similar approaches for MR-guided interventions, the differences between X-ray and MR force very different optimal solutions. With X-ray guidance high-speed projective imaging is performed with a device that is...
متن کاملRemote control catheter navigation: options for guidance under MRI
BACKGROUND Image-guided endovascular interventions have gained increasing popularity in clinical practice, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is emerging as an attractive alternative to X-ray fluoroscopy for guiding such interventions. Steering catheters by remote control under MRI guidance offers unique challenges and opportunities. METHODS In this review, the benefits and limitations of M...
متن کاملImmobilization of Breast Tissue Using Small Beads for MR-Guided Breast Interventions
INTRODUCTION It is necessary to immobilize the tissue for MR-guided breast interventions in addition to preventing breast tissue motion due to breathing or cardiac pulsatility. Biopsy or therapy needles distort the breast upon insertion and cause the internal structures to move shifting the target from its original position. Conventional methods of stabilizing the breast during an MR-guided int...
